This Privacy Policy explains how Njangi ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). Your privacy is our priority, and we are committed to maintaining a healthy, secure, and respectful community space built on trust.

We collect information directly from you, automatically when you use the Service, and sometimes from third parties.

"House" Details: Recipes, ingredient lists, cooking times, and session descriptions.

Chat/Communication Data: Text messages, voice notes, and content exchanged during language and cooking sessions.

Payment Information (for Credits): When you purchase in-app Credits, our secure third-party payment processor collects your payment details. Njangi does not store your full credit card number.

Support/Feedback Data: Information you provide when you contact us for support or submit feedback, including details related to safety reports.
B. Information Collected Automatically

Usage Data: Information about how you access and use the Service, including the Houses you host/join, session durations, features you use, and interaction patterns.

Device Data: Information about your device, including the hardware model, operating system, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.

Location Data (Approximate): We infer your approximate location (country or city) from your IP address or device settings solely for displaying relevant content (like time zones) and complying with regional laws. We do not collect precise GPS location.

Video and Audio Data: The video and audio streams of live sessions are transmitted directly between participants. Njangi does not record these sessions unless a session is reported for inappropriate behavior, in which case we may temporarily review limited data/segments for moderation and safety investigations.
2. Our Legal Basis for Processing Your Information (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:

To Enable Community Connection: Your profile name, picture, bio, and languages are shared with other users to facilitate the give-and-take system. When you host or join a House, your presence and communication are visible to participants.

To Ensure Safety and Security: We use your data to investigate and address reports of inappropriate content, enforce our Community Guidelines, and protect our users and platform against fraud or abuse.

For Marketing: We may use content you willingly provide (like videos for the community-led ad) for marketing and promotional purposes, subject to your explicit consent and any compensation agreements.

With Service Providers: We use trusted third-party service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, payment processors) to perform services on our behalf. They are strictly prohibited from using your personal data for any purpose other than what we specify.

Njangi is a global app. Your information may be stored and processed in any country where we have operations or where our service providers are located. By using the Service, you understand that your data may be transferred to countries outside of your country of residence, which may have different data protection laws than those in your region. We take all necessary steps to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Deletion and Account Closure: You may close your account at any time. We will deactivate your account and delete your personal information, subject to the retention periods below.

6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the Service, maintain your account, and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy.

Account Data: Retained as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, most data will be purged within 30-90 days, except for data required for legal compliance or financial record-keeping (e.g., credit purchase logs).

Moderation Data: Information related to safety reports may be retained for a longer period to prevent recurrence and ensure platform safety.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for users who are 16 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 16 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
